I'm afraid I have to disagree with the earlier answer. I think you are looking for the mass number. I checked in an online encyclopaedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mass_number

I think it's tThe mass number of the "element", to be exact because some elements are diatomic meaning they exist in pairs like Oxygen O2, and Hydrogen H2
