What is the solution to the equation 4 –2x ≈ 3

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

4 –2x ≈ 3 Subtract 4 from both sides

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

Then divide by -2

Solve for x. So you need to get x completely alone one one side and everything else on the other side. So first here you would do any addition or subtraction. Whatever is on the same side as the x do the reverse to both sides. Then do the same thing with any addition or multiplication. Then you would do any exponents if there were any.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2x is approximately equal to one (add 2x to both sides then subtract 3 from both sides) x is approximately equal to 1/2 (divide both sides by 2)
