what is the function of Net framework on my computer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Provides additional libraries to the .net web server usually IIS to use when it runs ur .net scripts. kinda like but isn't similar PHP :) .net is an un-compiled (non .exe) language the web server and browser does all the processing. There are some standalone implementations of it also though active-X and stuff .....I don't know allot about it though I'm a PHP guy too exspensive to purchase the IDE and software needed to rapidly develop microsoft stuff for me.

Simply speaking, the .net framework on your computer is a bunch of code that some programs (those that were developed _for_ the .net framework) need to work. Very very simply speaking, it is like Flash for Flash applications; you can't run Flash applications unless you have Flash installed on your computer. Java is another language/framework that needs a basic set of components before Java programs run on your machine.

Vista? Do you mean the operating system that was superseded by Windows 7 three years ago?
