Carol bought 8 identical boxes for a total of $3.60. How much did each box cost? Which let statement(s) would you use? a.)LET B=THE COST OF A BOX b.)LET B=THE COST OF 8 BOXES c.)LET B=THE NUMBER OF BOXES CAROL BOUGHT

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Well we know that she bought 8 boxes. So there's no question as to what the number of boxes is. So choice C is out. We're given the cost of 8 boxes, so that's also not unknown either. So choice B is out. So the answer is choice A. This makes sense as we want to find the unit cost.
