??? I know you're joking @Ashlee0001, right? http://qntm.org/genres Yeah, theres music for all of em.
it is all i could think of
You guys are funny...
if a butt ton is a mathmatical number than there you go
A googol...might as well be, theres a new genre every day. What are you doing here? Go find some more musicians!!!
Genres are defined by people, and consequently are largely subjective. It's like asking "how many types of flavors are there?". In my opinion, infinite.
Agreed
well there's alot to start with. I suggest their are over than 15 music generes. =] hope that helps
@april115 I think you're definitely right
I think there are 23 :)
@mmoul18 You are painfully wrong, and obviously being facetious! lol :) But in my humble opinion there are only 7 "REAL" genres of music. Maybe less. Each 'genre' outside these is really only a stylistic variation of the first 7. :) And the possibilities of stylistic variation on musical motifs, are quite infinite. There are as many as there are stars in the sky.
To me, they are as follows: Classical (Realm of Opera, Orchestra, 1700's Composers, etc.) Jazz (The experimental, improvisational realm) Funk (Realm of sour notes and hard beats) Rock (Realm of guitar + bass guitar + drums + vocals) Pop (Realm of manufactured music) Hip-hop (Realm of poetry>melody, AKA "flows" or "rap") Club (Realm of DJ's, lasers, glow-sticks, and candy-kids)
@Dyiliq, I just went to google and googled it and that was what came up with a number of different websites :)
What's it say all those genres are called?
