I dont understand this one bit, please someone explain this to me. Find all numbers for which the rational expression is not defined. -3 over 2x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a rational expression that is not defined is when you divide something by 0 (that's when you get an error on your calculator too). What value does x need to be for -3/(2x) to be -3/0?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

X is zero?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

exactly! That's simply it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

still a little fuzzy on whats going on here, how about 5over x-8, do i just plus 8 to make the demominator zero?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep, you got it. If you had 10/(2x-4), what would it be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=2

perfect, I've got nothing more to teach you on the subject it seems! ;-)

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

- so before all you need to know that one fraction whene is undefined ? - answer : when the denominator = zero - so in this case if there is -3/2x so from this resulted that when x=0 so than the denominator = zero so than this fraction will be undefined

that you that helps
