what is the equation of the line in slope-intercept form that passes through the point (3, –1) and is perpendicular to the line y = x + 1 ? y = –x – 2 or y = x – 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

perpendicualr means opposite resiprical slope so since you have the slope is 1 for the first. the second must have a -1 before the x to show the slope.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so, it's not one of the two answer choices i put ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well it could be the y=-x-2 but if you plug in the 3 and 1 it doesnt fit...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ooh, okk i got it. lol. :o
