x^2+4x-2>0 Solve the inequality. What is the solution set in interval notation??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Use the quadratic form to find the limits of the interval. You will find that x > sqrt(6) - 2 or x < -sqrt(6) - 2, after solving it. So, we have to put in interval notation. As it's an open interval, we have that x must belong to: (-infinity, -sqrt(6) - 2) U (sqrt(6) - 2, +infinity) where U stand for union of the sets.
