1.This table of sailing records shows the year and speed of each yacht in its transatlantic journey. Each yacht sailed from the Ambrose Light Tower in New York to Lizard Point in England for a total of 3364 statute miles. Use the Unit Conversion table to express the average speed in nautical miles per hour for the Atlantic and the Playstation. A.15.47 nautical miles per hour; 25.78 nautical miles per hour B.12.02 nautical miles per hour; 18.62 nautical miles per hour C.10.02 nautical miles per hour; 25.78 nautical miles per hour D.15.03 nautical miles per hour; 38.17 nautical miles per hou

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What do you need help at? What part are you stuck in?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Actually the whole thing lol like what do I need to do?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let's do the first one... the Atlantic... according to the table what was its average speed?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

10.02

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's 10.02 knots. what is that in nautical miles?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

look at the conversion table... 1 knot = ???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1 nautical mi/ h ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1 knot = 1 nautical mi/h right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So whats next?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

good... s0 10.02 knots is 10.02 nautical miles per hour....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now do the other ship...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so you just convert the knots into miles? Is the other ship 25.78 nautical miles per hour?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks dpalnc! Math isn't my subject lol!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yw... is this the only problem that uses that conversion table?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No I have another one..can you take a look at it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

probably that one will ask you to do to statute miles i bet? wanna bet?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Haha your probably right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

shoot... i'll look.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Use the table of Unit Conversions and the values you obtained in the previous problem to convert the nautical miles per hour to statute miles per hour for the Atlantic and the Playstation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

THANKS!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i win you owe me 50000000 dollars.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Your right huh?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

LMAO

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to get your answers since 1 nautical mile = 1.15 statute miles, just multiply your 10.02 nautical miles per hour by 1.15 to get statute miles per hour. do the same with the other yacht.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OKAY THANKS!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yw

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay well this is the last question I need help on. Can you please help me out? Finally, divide 3364 statute miles by the statute miles per hour you obtained for the Atlantic and Playstation, to find the number of hours it took each yacht. Then answer this question: By how much time did the Playstation beat the Atlantic in traversing the Atlantic ocean? A. 146 h or 6.1 days B. 178.5 h or 7.4 days C. 113.5 h or 4.7 days D. 292 h or 12.2 days

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nevermind I got it :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So Whats The Answer ?:O
