Let A = {0,2,4,6,8,10,12,14,16} and R be a relation on A such that R = (x,y) : y = x^3}. Is R antisymmetric?

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

I would say yes. The relation \(y=x^3\) is anti-symmetric on the real numbers, so it should be anti-symmetric on A.

Thanks. Is there a website that can help me with this subject?

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

You could always try khanacademy.org Other than that, try looking at the related wikipedia/wolfram mathworld pages.

Ok I will.
