how to translate to an equation the product of 2, a number increased by 7, is -36 and to solve what is the number

OpenStudy (apoorvk):

let the no. be x. so the "its product of 2" makes it 2x. "increased by 7", makes it 2x+7 "is -36" means 2x +7 equal to -36 so, 2x+7 = -36 That's alright?

so is the number 36

OpenStudy (apoorvk):

Nope. for the no. you 'll have to solve the equation and find 'x'. as 'x' is that no.

OpenStudy (apoorvk):

BTW, did you actually mean "a product of two, the no. increased by.."
