I have a question regarding 8.02 lecture 4. When mr. Lewin does the experiment at the end I understand why the lamp start to light. There is an difference of potential in radial direction, so electrons start to flow. But as the electrons move from one end to the other end they start to build up and electric field which is in opposite direction to the field the vandegraaf creates. so, shouldnt stop the flow of electrons until when the field in the lamp is strong enough?

my exact analogous confusion as in thermocouple :)
