What is the magnitude and direction of line segment GE if G(3, -2) and H(6, 4)? magnitude: 6.71 units; direction 63.43° magnitude: 6.71 units: direction: 26.57° magnitude: 3.61 units; direction: 26.57° magnitude: 3.61 units: direction: 63.43°
that all depends on where E is i spose
oh i ment line GH sorry about that
thats better :) since they ask for a direction from G and to H; the vector is simply defined to be last - first: or, H-G
oh ok i get it sort of i am not that good at vectors
at the moment, this is just arithmetic. work on the x parts by themselves and the y parts by themsleves
H(6, 4) - G(3, -2) ---------- <3, 6 >
|dw:1334958436221:dw| the rest is just the pythag thrm stuff; and an angle
oh ok so how do i figure out the answer to my question though?
magnitude is length; find the length of the hypotenuse of the picture i drew using the pythag thrm the angle is the tangent that relates to the definition of a tangent
we could guess at it as well with some well placed reasoning :)
3,3 would be 45degrees, this is greater than 45 the length is greater than 6 by observation
so the magnitude would be 6.708

6.7 sounds good
let me try to figure out the angle measure
