Solve x2+2x+9=0

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

x = (-b+-sqrt(b^2-4ac))/(2a) x = (-(2)+-sqrt((2)^2-4(1)(9)))/(2(1)) x = (-2+-sqrt(4-(36)))/(2) x = (-2+-sqrt(-32))/2 x = (-2+sqrt(-32))/2 or x = (-2-sqrt(-32))/2 x = (-2+4i*sqrt(2))/2 or x = (-2-4i*sqrt(2))/2 x = -1+2i*sqrt(2) or x = -1-2i*sqrt(2) So the solutions are x = -1+2i*sqrt(2) or x = -1-2i*sqrt(2)
