Susan has 3 siblings: Ted, Kathy, and Jake. Susan is older than Jake. Ted is younger than both his sisters but older than his brother. What information is needed to determine the order of the siblings oldest to youngest? A. Is Kathy older or younger than Ted? Is Jake older or younger than Susan? Is Susan older or younger than Kathy? Is Ted older or younger than Jake?

Take a piece of paper and start writing what you know to try to place them in order. So it mentions susan. Write her name first. Then Jake. He's younger, so his name goes somewhere below susan. Write it up there. Then it says Ted, he's younger than his sisters, but older than his brother, so he would go between susan and jake. Then what's missing?

Kathy is older than Ted. Jake is younger than Susan Not enought info Ted is older than Jake

?????????????'

Look at what A says. A wants to know if Kathy is older or younger than Ted. But the question says: "Ted is younger than BOTH his sisters but older than his brother." Kathy is his sister, Ted is younger than her, so Kathy is older than him. A is answered.
