break down the middle term into two addends 2x^2 -2x + 3x - 3 factor out... 2x(x-1) + 3(x-1) facotr out again... (x-1)(2x+3)

2x^2+3x-2x-3=0 x(2x+3)-1(2x+3)=0 x=(-3/2),1
