This is not a bad idea, and it's one we've tossed around. The plumbing is actually in place to allow it server side. Turning it off was a decision made before my time, but from the best I can recall from previous conversations about it there were usability issues with it. That said, I'll try to remember to have a conversation about this soon with the rest of the team.

alot of the "attachments" i have come across are just people being to lazy to write out their question (or a copy and paste doesnt do well due to special codings) and wanting us to flip back and forth between windows to try and piece it together.  At least when they have to type things out the material sinks deeper into their consciuosness.  IMO.

^ what amistre said. Part of the reason I'm not necessarily a fan of including attachments at the question level anyway. Even allowing links in attachments encourages laziness that's kind of annoying for an answerer.
