Your daily workout plan involves a total of 60 minutes of swimming and biking. You burn 15 calories per minute swimming and 5 calories per minute biking. How many calories will you burn in your 60−minute workout if you swim for 30 minutes?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well if you swim for 30 minutes, how much time is spent biking? You have the rates for each activity...so use those to calculate each activities' burned calories then add them up.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

swim_cal = swim_time * 15 bike_cal = bike_time * 5 swim_time + bike_time = 60

OpenStudy (mertsj):

30 minutes swimming: 30(15)=450 calories burned while swimming 30 minutes biking: 30(5)=150 calories burned while biking Total calories burned = calories burned swimming + calories burned biking
