explain that radiant energy from the sun can heat objects and when the Sun is not present, heat may be lost, and give examples

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The sun is the most important object to Earth. Without the sun, life could not exist. There would be no heat, and all of the oceans would be frozen. There would be no light, and all plants would die. There is almost nothing more important to Earth than the sun. When EM waves from the sun are absorbed by an object, the energy of the waves is converted to heat (or converted to electricity in case of a photoelectric material).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The example: If one stands near a fire without changing position, soon their clothes and skin will begin to become hot due to the RADIATION of infra-red energy from the fire source. This energy form travels in a straight line [unless reflected] from the source in all directions. When it comes in contact with an object which absorbs [does not reflect] it, in the process of absorbtion, the infra-red energy is converted to heat. In the case of the Earth's loss of heat, it simply radiates into space where it continues to travel [like a ray of light, except invisible to the human eye] until it contacts some object.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry it took so long

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you shorten lol lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I will try

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you need it even shorter?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which one do i write

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, you would use both because you need an explanation, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait, let me shorten it a bit more

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No no noo

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its fine that way

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there, that would be the example and reason merged
