if there are 7 billion people on earth and each person requires 0.5 hectares of land to be feed, how many acres will be needed to feed them?

OpenStudy (p0sitr0n):

billions * 0.5

OpenStudy (p0sitr0n):

7 billions * 0.5

OpenStudy (p0sitr0n):

3.5 billion hectares

OpenStudy (zepp):

^ It would give the answer in hectares, you have to convert it to acres afterward

OpenStudy (p0sitr0n):

1 acre = 0.4047 hectares

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so if 1 ha = 2.47 acres would i divide 2.47 by 3.5 billion

OpenStudy (p0sitr0n):

1acre^2 = 0.1638 ha u have to square the raito

OpenStudy (p0sitr0n):

so 1 ha = 6.1 acres^2 7 billions * 6.1 acres^2 ( or * 2.47 if you need only acres)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well i have to have it in unit conversion using 1ha=2.47 acres

OpenStudy (p0sitr0n):

ok, so its 7 billions * 2.47

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but only one person needs .5 ha for food so wouldn't i divide some where
