How to distinguish stationary wave from interference?

In the case of waves moving in the same direction, interference produces a travelling wave; for oppositely moving waves, interference produces an oscillating wave fixed in space.

Sorry, it may be too late to ask. Though, I have a question. If the question says that at some point, no sound can be heard. Then would it be due to interference or stationary wave?
