In the following figure, NDBA is a rectangle, AN = NG, BF = DB, GD = 11, and DF = 8√2. What is the area of parallelogram GDFA?
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee155/dramaqueen12572/jhjhjh.gif plz explain!!
From AN = NG, BF = DB these statements, triangle ANG and triangle BDF are what kind of triangle?
isocoles i believe
Do you understand why I put these angle and side equal?
yes
Explanation for the angles: Since both side are equal, they are isoceles, RECTANGLE isocele, so the two other angles are 45 degrees each.
but how do you find the height?
All you need to find is NA, which is the height of the rectangle but also the height of the paralellogram, you can find NA by using trig (sin, cos, tan)
OMG NOT TRIG AGAIN >>>>>>>>>>>.<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<, how do you find it with trig? Wud you use cos sin or tan?
Use the A angle, AG(8sqrt(2)) would be the hypotenuse and NA would be the sideadjacent What relation do you see here? (Sideadjacent/Hypotenuse)
sin...? >.<
no
tan
i never really understood trig...
What relation is \[\frac{adjacent}{hypotenuse}\]? Cos! Here a little handy note: use the magic spell "SOHCAHTOA" to remember Sine (Opposite/Hypotenuse) Cosine (Adjacent/Hypotenuse) Tangent (Opposite/Adjacent)
Of course -.- the one i dont guess >.< thanks tho
so it wud be cos(45)=x/8sqrt2?
Yes! Solve for x to find the height ;D
OMG IM A GENIOUS
thank you!
x=8 so 8 is the hieght
Haha, "Everybody is a genius." -Einstein Np. ;)
so just to be sure, its 88?
Yep, 88 is the area of the paralellogram ;)
