solve 4(x-1)^2-9=27

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

i would suggest transposing the constant then getting the square root :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what? haha

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

^there... see? though @inthebleachers remember that the function is at degree 2..so you must have 2 values for x...missing one? /:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4(x-1)^2 = 36 (x-1)^2 = 9 x-1 = [\sqrt{9}\] x = +4 and -4

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

x - 1 = \(\sqrt 9\) x - 1 = \(\pm 3\) x - 1 = 3 x - 1 = -3 x - 1 = 3 +1 x - 1 = -3 + 1 so it's x = 4; x = -2

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

you got careless @inthebleachers :)
