how do you work out 20000(1+0.07/2)^2*5? i know the answer is 28,211.98 but how do i work it out?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it ^(2*5) or just ^(2) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2*5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2* 10 ^(4) * ( 1 + 0,07/2) ^(10 ) ...you know that you have to calculate 1+ 0,07/2 inside the brackets and just have to power it to 10 and multiply it: 2 * 10^(4) * ( 1 + 0,035)^(10) 2 * 10^(4) * (1,035)^(10) 2 * 10^(4) * 1,41 = 28.211,98 :)

You can type 20000(1+0.07/2)^(2*5)= into the google search window. The important thing is you should have (2*5) in parentheses. Now use order of operations. Here is a short video on order of operations http://www.khanacademy.org/math/arithmetic/order-of-operations/v/introduction-to-order-of-operations
