Each dimension of a rectangular prism is increased by 80%. What percent of the original volume is the volume of the new prism? Answer 583.2% 51.2% 64% 324%

OpenStudy (anonymous):

0.8 ^ 3 = 3.24 = 324%

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok i had the first one down but thank-you

OpenStudy (beginnersmind):

That's actually incorrect. If a dimension is increased by 80% (or by 0.8) the new dimension is 1.8 times the original. So the volume is 1.8*1.8*1.8=5.832 times the original. Or 583.2% of the original.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

True.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok so it is the first option then?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes it is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok cool thank-you guys!
