1987 was not a leap year. So there were 365 days in the year. The first could have been born on any day. The second could have been born on every day except that (364 days). The third has 363 choices. For each choice of person one, next has 364 choices. For each choice of person two, person three has 363 choices. That's a multiplication type of arrangement. 365*364*363 different ways they can each have been born on a different day in 1987.
