acid rain, for one.....Canada does not exactly appreciate the US pumping all the byproducts of burning fossil fuels into the air that then floats over Canada.

There've also been various oil spills/other environmental disasters, the devastation of the fisheries on the east coast (I assume that impacted the US as well), global warming (and the associated melting of the ice cap up north), uh... and various invasive species too. Animals and plants tend not to respect borders.
