Can you distinguish any cells? are some cells larger than others in an onion near the root tip can you see any cells in the process of cell division
What do you need help with?
those three questions
Those questions sound like they have something to do with something you saw in class (which we did not see). They are asking you what precisely you saw.
i do online schooling, they only provided me a worksheet
Was there a picture on the worksheet? It would be very strange to ask you "Can you distinguish any cells?" if it were impossible for you to distinguish any.
and a online link to draw some pictures
here ill try to attach the link
I don't think this is the right link. You just linked me to a video of mitosis. The question has to do with regular cells (presumably in an onion) and specifically the cells in the root tip.
thats the only link i was given and i had to draw the different phases and then those questions came up
Oh, ok... well... CAN you see any cells? The question is what YOU can see, not what I can see.
uhm im not sure its off of that link .
if this helps this is the worksheet http://curriculum.kcdistancelearning.com/courses/BIOx-HS-CA10/a/unit3/u3_labs/MitosisLabReport.rtf
Hrm, it really sounds like it was designed for an actual in-class activity... which, of course, doesn't work so well long-distance. Anyway, I googled for "onion root tip" and here's one of the pictures that I found: http://cache2.allpostersimages.com/p/LRG/27/2790/LTFOD00Z/poster/dennis-david-m-mitosis-in-onion-root-tip-cells.jpg If you look at that picture, you should be able to answer those three questions at least.
so yes yes and what would be the last one im kinda confused
In the picture that I linked, the chromosomes are stained blue. Do you see any of them distinctly? Any distinct bundles of them that look like they might be pulling apart? Here's another photo, by the way, showing more of the root tip. In this one, the genetic material is black: http://www.vcbio.science.ru.nl/public/Final-Images/PL_Final685z_051-100/PL0097_685zOnionRootTipOverview.jpg Again, look for distinct chromosomes that look like they're doing what you've seen in diagrams of mitosis.
so is the last one yes?
You tell me... what do you see? :)
im thinking yes
Yep! And here's yet another picture of an onion root tip where the phases are even labelled: http://schoolworkhelper.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/onion-mitosis-3-lab.jpg Now... do you know WHY there's so much mitosis going on in the root tip?
kinda
Kinda?
i just dont understand bio alot
can oyu help me with the second page of the worksheet
Don't worry about it. 90% of biology is just facts, and with time, you'll learn them.
The problem with this worksheet is that it's talking about something that you should be able to see. Are you SURE there are no images associated with it? I mean... it's even asking you to count the number of cells, and that's not possible without knowing what you're supposed to be looking at.
i have no idea .
Is there a teacher you can email?
no.
its all independent
Well, find out who's responsible for this worksheet and email them. It's possible they just screwed up and forgot to upload the image(s) associated with it.
thats not really possible to contact anyone
What kind of distance learning thing is it if there's no way to contact anyone?
Maybe ask your mum or dad for help. In the meantime, I'd advise reading a bit more about mitosis, looking at diagrams, and thinking about why there's so much of it in the root tip.
can you help me with someting else
