OpenStudy (anonymous):

Write an equation of a line in slope intercept form that is perpendicular to y = -4x -2 and passes through the point (-16, -11).

OpenStudy (chriss):

This is similar to the last problem except you have to calculate the slope of a perpendicular line. That is the opposite reciprocal of the slope of your original line. Once you've figured out your slope, the problem is solved exactly like the last problem.

?

OpenStudy (chriss):

so your slope here is -4. What is the reciprocal of that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is 1/4 times -16

OpenStudy (chriss):

a hint... it's the same as \[\frac{-16}{4}\]
