OpenStudy (cathyangs):

Are bacteria considered parasites?

OpenStudy (blues):

A parasite is any organism which supports itself at the expense of its host...

OpenStudy (cathyangs):

So then...yes?

OpenStudy (blues):

Some yes and some no. Some bacteria definitely do use their hosts in a way which hurts that host - but many others live in their hosts without hurting them. Some even provide necessary functions for their host, like the bacteria in the human gut which provide us with vitamin K, which we are not able to make ourself...

OpenStudy (cathyangs):

ok, thank you. :D

OpenStudy (blues):

Sure not a prob. :D
