Coat color in rabbits is represented by a gene (C). The different phenotypes are dominant in this order: Agouti > chinchilla > Himalayan > albino. Which type of inheritance is shown? Multiple Alleles Polygenic Inheritance Incomplete Dominance

OpenStudy (blues):

The info tells you that there is just one gene, C. That eliminates one of the possibilities. Do you know which one?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Multiple Alleles?

OpenStudy (blues):

No, alleles are different possible variates or versions of a single gene. That's quite different than the case of more than one gene...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It would eliminate polygenic inheritance would it not?

OpenStudy (blues):

Yes, it absolutely would. The problem also tells you that there are four possible alleles for this single gene: Agouti, chinchilla, Himalayan and albino...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And if it was simply incomplete dominance, there would only be a maximum of 3 phenotypes with one gene. so it must be multiple alleles.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay now i understand, Multiple Alleles is the answer.

OpenStudy (blues):

Cool. :D
