If 90560 people today (2012) are at risk for hypertension in Timbuktoo and this represents 32% of the population, what is the population in 2012?

OpenStudy (kropot72):

To find 1% of the population divide 90560 by 32. Then multiply the result by 100 to find 100% of the population. (90560/32) * 100 = 283,000

Thanks so much! I need help w/ part 2 of this question: If the population of Timbuktoo grows by 1.25% per year, how many people will be in Timbuktoo in 2025 (Use the population figure calculated for 2012 in the other problem)?

OpenStudy (kropot72):

The population increase in the thirteen years from 2012 to 2025 is found as follows: \[90560(1+0.0125)^{13}\] Population in 2025 will be 332,600
