If the population of Timbuktoo grows by 1.25% per year, how many people will be in Timbuktoo in 2025 (Use the population figure calculated for 2012 in the other problem)?

an increase of 1.25% is the same as multiplying by 1.0125 
There are 13 years from 2012 to 2025 so you multiply the population in 2012 by 1.0125 13 times.

Population in 2012 times 1.0125^13

Do you mean 283,000 multiplied by 1.0125? Sorry I'm confused.
