What are the approximate solutions of 2x2 + 9x = 8 to the nearest hundredth? x ≈ 1.22 and x ≈ 3.28 x ≈ −0.76 and x ≈ 5.26 x ≈ −1.22 and x ≈ −3.28 x ≈ −5.26 and x ≈ 0.76

Last one. :-)

can u xplain though

explain

In exact form, the solutions have the form:\[x =\frac{1}{4}( -9 \pm \sqrt{145})\]using the quadratic formula. I just plugged in a calculator and rounded them.

You could do an estimate also, sqrt(145) is near 12. -9 - 12 is approximately -20, divided by 4 is a bit more than 5. The other has to be less than 1 (almost 3/4)
