What is equivalent to log 8 40 rounded to three decimal places?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do it on your calculator. Your equation would be equal to log 10 40 / log 10 8. You calculator does log base 10.

Hi, Stephanizer! I'm a bit rusty on logs, but, if I remember correctly, you would do: log(8)40 which, when you use a calculator would be 36.124 (rounded to 3 decimal places)

Oh, is the base 8?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If the base is 8, then my answer would be correct. However, if you have an "invisible" base of 10, then you'd type the 10 in brackets, next to the log, and then, beside that, you'd put your number that is above the base.
