A) Line M and Line L are equidistant because they are parallel lines. B) In the diagram, angle R is congruent to angle J. That causes the lines M and L to be parallel because of the following theorem: If two lines are cut by a transversal so that alternate interior angles are congruent, then the lines are parallel.
