OpenStudy (kropot72):

Note the polarity of the two batteries. The batteries are in series with a total voltage of: 2.5 + 3.4 = 5.9V The current through R1 which has the combined voltage of the two batteries in series across it is: 5.9/3.4 = 1.735 amps

so R1 got when we solve the right part of circuit ?

OpenStudy (kropot72):

The presence of R2 in the circuit does not affect current through R1. If R2 was removed the current in R1 would stay the same.

ok, thanks :)
