What led biologists to assign universally accepted names to organisms?

To be honest, so we could have a pattern to them, imagine 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 being set instead as 1,4,7,6,4,T,h,8,9,S. Doesnt make any sense, so we ordered them, named them, family, species etc so they could be filed away neatly

Not to mention what a mess it'd be if every language used its own, unique common name for an organism...would certainly make collaboration a bit more difficult!

They need to create a unique name that would be recognized As belonging to one organism
