OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is pie + e = 3.14 + 2.7.... = irrational? If yes, why?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can the sum of two irrational numbers ever be rational. YES. can the sum of pi and e be irrational. Who knows.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes it is irrational.you find that the sum is a non terminating and non reccuring number, which makes it irrational

OpenStudy (freckles):

pi is irrational e is irrational both of these can not be written as an integer over an integer where the bottom integer is not zero

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oop, that is a wrong example, what about pi/10 + (-pi/10) = 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

point to ponder. e is irrational and therefore CANNOT be written down. YOU can only write an approximation to e. Hence, you can NOT add e to anything!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i can i can add e to 3 if i like. i get \(3+e\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3+e is a concept, not a number.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

have to go. bye

OpenStudy (anonymous):

really? all this time i thought e sat right on the numberline between 2 and 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

e also sat on imaginary plane

OpenStudy (freckles):

yes jinchuriki3005 you are right -e and e are both irrational but the sum of -e and e is rational
