According to the Galilean theory of gravity, the acceleration due to gravity on all objects at the surface of the earth is the same.  A consequence of that theory is that objects dropped from the same height should reach the ground at the same time.

Try this with two rocks and yes, it's right!
Try this with a rock and piece of tissue paper and it seems wrong.

Does this mean the theory is wrong?  No, it means there are other forces at work.  In this case air resistance.  

This is therefore an one way in which an experiment might appear to contradict a theory.

Another way is that the experimenter unwittingly makes a mistake in the experiment.
