How many gallons of pure lemons juice be mixed with 4 gallons of 25% lemon juice to achieve a mixture which contains 40% lemon juice

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you have 4 gallons of 25% juice, meaning one gallon of lemon juice total so far. and 4 gallons of mixture if you put say "x" as the number of gallons of lemon juice added, then you will have \(4+x\) gallons of mixture and \(1+x\) gallons of lemon juice. you want this \(1+x\) gallons of lemon juice to be 40% of the total of \(4+x\) so set \[1+x=.4(4+x)\] and solve for x
