yes
..out a four
i can do foil but not backwards.. sorry
= 4a^2 - 8a - 8a + 16 = 4a(a - 2) - 8(a - 2) = (4a - 8)(a - 2)

this is what i got so far 4(a^2-4a+4)
ok good work, now you just need two number who add to give -4 and multiply to give 4
i know it 4 and 1 but i need a negative number and if get -1 it wont work
they might be the same number
what number do i use?
(hint: the two numbers that multiply together give 4 and add to give -4 are actually the same number i this case
*in
It's actually: 4(a-2)^2 Would you like an explanation?
yes please
the numbers you were loking for were -2, and -2
First you take out the 4. Then since it has two 16's you know it will turn out to be a similiar number. So basically it comes out too 4(a-2)^2. I'm not very good at explaining this, sorry.
so is it this 4(a-2)^2 ?
I believe so.
the step that has not yet been written is\[4(a-2)(a-2)\]
