Part A How much commission will Ramona make if she sells $3,600 in vacation packages? Show your work. Answer $ Part B Ramona receives an additional 2% bonus on the sale of vacation packages during February. What would be her combined commission and bonus if she sells $3,600 in vacation packages during February? Answer $

OpenStudy (turingtest):

what is 6% of 3600 is what the first problem becomes do you know how to do percentages?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is 600 right ?

OpenStudy (turingtest):

not quite percent means "divided by 100" so\[6\%=\frac6{100}\]and the word "of" means "times" in mathematics, so 6% of 3600 is\[\frac6{100}\times3600\]which will be her commission

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the answer for the first part is 60,000 ?

OpenStudy (turingtest):

no, do you have a calculator handy?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (turingtest):

there must be one on your computer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok wait

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got it

OpenStudy (turingtest):

in any event you can just move the decimal point when you divide by 100 so what is 6/100 then multiply by 3600

OpenStudy (anonymous):

216 thats my answer right ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for the first part

OpenStudy (turingtest):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and for the second part what i have to do ? ^^^^

OpenStudy (turingtest):

it seems to be pretty much the same we need to find 2% of 3600 (which is the bonus) and add it to the other number we just found that will be her total income

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh so its going to be 72 right ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because thats what i got because i divided 2/100 and then multiplyed by 3600 which i got 72

OpenStudy (turingtest):

yep, exactly so the grand total is...?

OpenStudy (turingtest):

that's right the commission + the bonus so 216+72=288

OpenStudy (turingtest):

nice job :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yayy :) thanks :)
