For ABC, what is the value of cosC?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1335479409640:dw| A0.5 B. 0.6 C. 0.8 D.0.9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you show me how to get the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cos c = adjacent side / hypotenuse = 72 /90 = 8 / 10 = 0.8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you tell me step by step please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i've tried to do this maybe i can explain a little more: this is a right angled triangle (angle B is 90 degrees) and for this type of triangle the ratio of adjacent side/ longest side ( called the hypotenuse) for a particular angle is always the same. this ratio is called the cosine the angle C is 'sitting' on the side of length 72 (adjacent) and hypotenuse = 90 so cos C = 72/90 there 2 other ratios are the sine = opposite side / hypotenuse and tangent = opposite / adjacent

thanks

so for example sin C = 54/90
