A stack of nickles and dimes is worth $2.55. Find the number of nickles if the number of dimes is 12 less than twice the number of nickles.
let number of nickels be x so number of dimes will be 2x -12 the entire stack is worth 2.55 so 5x + 10(2x - 12) = 2.55 solve for x
too much Delta 9-tetrahydrocannabinol
What?? And i still dont really understand @niravshah08
did u get the LET part ?
yeah
k so nickel is 5 cents and dime is 10 cents so u multiply numbre of nickels times 5 to get the amount of money and you do the same with dimes so u get 5x + 10(2x - 12) = 255
I still dont understand
what part u dont get ?
All of it:(
k so the problem says "A stack of nickles and dimes is worth $2.55" which means you have a nickels and dimes wholse value adds up to $2.55 which is also 255 cents nickel has values of 5 and dime has value of 10
So nickles is 40?
40 nickles then?
no
Then i dont understand, could you maybe just tell me the answer just this once?
i could but try to understand the problem
lets say u have 10 nickels. how much money will u have then ?
50
n how did u get this ?
each nickle is 5 cents if we were to have 5 nickles it would be 25
yup so u multiplied number of nickels time 5 can u do the same thing with dimes ?
