the ratio of 10/3 : 9/4 is equal to what? I know it's equal to 40:27, as u cross multiply the ratios, what I want to know is why do we do so?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What's the logic behind it?

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

how bout instead of cross multiplying, just multiply both sides by 3*4 (12)?

Parth (parthkohli):

See, ratios are just another form for fractions.

Parth (parthkohli):

\[\LARGE {10 \over 3} = {9 \over 4} = 40:27\]

Hmm, thank you guys. :)
