How do I build programs that run completely in the background after being launched, waiting or monitoring for certain events (like maybe a file exceeding a certain size in a directory) before immediately acting and then disappearing into the background again (such as moving the large file into a larger partition and then going to sleep, waiting for more large files to show up).
