17. Latitude measures the distance (in degrees – north or south) above and below the equator. The equator has a latitude of 0°. Your friend lives in a town 10 degrees north of Cleveland. Cleveland has a latitude of 40° N. If you reflect the town's location over the equator, what would be its new latitude?

@anonymoustwo44... isn't the reflection across the equator take the latitude into the southern hemisphere?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait by reflect, do you refer to its reflection? if so its -50 degrees. But if you mean base on the equator, its 50 degrees

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but SOUTH versus NORTH. the new latitude would be 50 degrees S.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh yeah so 50 degrees south if by reflect you mean reflection and 50 degrees north if by reflect you mean base
