What is the lateral area of a cylinder with a radius of 6 cm and a height of 8 cm?

OpenStudy (aravindg):

do u knw the formula for lateral surface area?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No

OpenStudy (aravindg):

ateral Area= (2pi)x(radius)x(height) Try imagining that you take the lateral area and unfold it from the cylinder. If you imagine it correctly you get a rectangle. The height of the cylinder is the height of the rectangle. Then the circumference is the length. SO you multiply the circumference of the base times the height.

OpenStudy (aravindg):

so here lateral area=6*8*2*pi=96 pi

30;44cm^2 is the answer, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

301.44**

OpenStudy (aravindg):

yes according to my calculator 301.44
