what happens when i touch dry ice
The area that touches the dry ice gets frost bitten as Dry Ice is CO2 in solid form. I shouldn't have to tell you that CO2 has a very low freezing temperature.
That's right, the freezing point of CO2 is -78 degrees celsius.
The experience would be similar to touching a hot pan thats been on the stove for a while. If you touch the dry ice for one or two seconds, it will most likely not give you a bad burn. You should start feeling the pain from touching the dry ice immediately. As indicated above, it would be like touching a hot pan. You skin will turn red and you will start developing a burn. After more than a few seconds of touching the dry ice, the extreme temperature will start to kill your skin cells. The result will be a bad burn that may need medical attention.
Then how is dry ice packed and transported for commercial use?
With gloves.
